October Sports Roundup

As we are nearing the halfway mark of October, the Bulldog athletes have been busy competing and heading toward the final stretch of their fall seasons. We are here to catch you up on the athletes' accomplishments in October.

The girls soccer team has had multiple matchups in the past two weeks. They started off with a win over Brookville 4-2. Junior Kate Copp had a hat trick in the first half, and Kennedy Nichols scored a goal in the second half. Two days later, the team celebrated their seniors with a game against National Trail and won 4-0. Congratulations to seniors Meg Ryerson, Madelyn Crowe, Zyhir Bobbitt, Tessa Fuller, and Autumn Brazie! The team lost to Miami East in their following game, 1-0, and in their last game before tournament play, the dogs fell 2-0 against Oakwood. They will head to Northwestern to start the tournament.

The cross country teams have had a two-week break from competing in their normal 5k’s on Saturday mornings. They have raced two 2-mile races during the week, excelling at both. They started their first race at home, honoring seniors Jacob Grube, Liam Hartley, and Austin Shoemaker. They then headed to Tipp City and performed against tough competition. This two-week break is designed to help them be fresh and ready to run at the Three Rivers Conference meet. Following that, they will enter the postseason, where great performances are key to helping them move on with their seasons.

The football team has kept their busy Friday night schedule. They started off October with a game against Covington and came home with a 29-7 win! This took their record to 3-1 as they prepared to take on Bethel at home this past Friday. The Bulldogs cruised past the Bees 49-0.

The boys soccer team hasn’t had as busy a month, but they are preparing for their tournament. They took a 1-0 win against Northwestern, with a goal scored by Mason Quesinberry. They start the tournament off on home turf on October 19 at 7 p.m. The matchup will be against Jackson Center, and they could use the community support!

To wrap up this recap, we have volleyball. This week, they matched up against Northridge for senior night. They took a win 3-1 while honoring Mylee Jones, Tyla Johns, Ava Forrest, and Jenna Brumbaugh. For their tournament, they will travel to Butler to match up against Dayton Christian on October 19 at 1 p.m.

Congratulations and good luck to all of our athletes who have been working hard since summer to achieve success in the postseason. We wish you the best of luck!
