House fire breaks out Friday afternoon - "Flames were coming out of the windows"

TIPP CITY — Fire broke out in a home Friday afternoon, according to Tipp City Fire Department Chief Cameron Haller. 

Just before 2 p.m., Tipp City fire crews were dispatched to a home in the 700 block of Nelson Ct in Tipp City, where they found the home on fire. Flames and smoke were showing from the front of the home as firemen entered the structure. 

Tipp City Fire Chief Cameron Haller arrived on scene and directed the firefighting efforts. He said that upon his arrival, “flames were coming out of the windows” on the front of the home. Several local fire departments were involved in the effort to put down the fire. Firefighters continued to battle the flames until they were extinguished. In total, seven departments were involved. 

We've heard that a passing driver saw flames coming from the house and reported it to Tipp City police. When questioned by Tippecanoe Gazette staff on the scene, Haller said that there was no one inside the structure at the time of the fire.

After the flames were extinguished, Haller told our reporter that he had requested the state fire investigator's office to send personnel to assist with the investigation. This is a breaking story and the Gazette will continue to follow it.
