Carolyn Wright, Andy Venters join Tipp City Foundation Board

Two active community members have joined the board of the Tipp City Foundation. The board welcomed Andrew Venters and Carolyn Wright at its March meeting.

Tipp City senior boys (and dads) attend luncheon

Tipp City’s graduating senior boys attended a luncheon with their dads at the Eagles Banquet Hall on Thursday, May 23rd, at 12:30 p.m. The luncheon was organized by Tipp High School faculty advisor Randy Sentman and senior Andrew Oen, with help from other seniors and faculty members. The meeting began with a lunch of pulled pork sandwiches, macaroni and cheese, and green beans, served with lemonade or water.

Tipp school bus driver of 44 years won major award

For Kevin Davis, driving the bus daily is routine, but for the people in his community, riding with Kevin is the highlight of their day. Kevin has been driving a school bus for Tipp City schools since 1980, and in that time, he has made a collection of memories, friends, and kids who look up to him.

Vandalia Summerfest returns to Henry Seger Park

The Vandalia Summer Fest returns for 2024 to Henry Seger Park, Vandalia on Wednesday, June 5. Activities include food trucks, LIVE music showcasing Mr. Kevin Wilson’s percussion skills on June 5, free children’s activities, and local vendors.

Council selects Eric Mack as Tipp City’s new city manager

The Tipp City Council appointed Eric Mack, Tipp City Director of Municipal Services & Engineering, as the new City Manager, replacing Tim Eggleston, who is retiring at the end of this month. Mack has worked for Tipp City for a total of 12 years.

Tipp City Council votes to update City’s pay and benefit schedules

Council voted to update the city’s pay and benefit schedules for all city employees not covered by a collective bargaining agreement. Based on a recent wage study, a Tipp City non-union employee’s average wage trails other, similar communities by about 14%. To help ensure Tipp can competitively attract good employees in the future, the city developed a four-year plan to “catch up” by annually increasing wages and benefits “without dramatically affecting the overall City budget.”

City breaks ground on new dog park splash pad

Last week, the City of Tipp City broke ground on the latest addition to Kyle Park: a splash pad dedicated to our dogs! While the new doggie splash pad has been in the works for several months, the bulldozers and dump trucks were out in force at Kyle last week.

Board of Education eliminated 12 teacher positions, adjusted school fees

The Board voted unanimously to RIF (Reduction in Force) twelve (12) teachers effective June 30, in an effort to help reduce the school district’s climbing operating deficit. The Board also approved the Student Fee Schedule for the 2025 school year, removing computer and Positive Behavior Intervention and Support fees. Treasurer Dave Stevens noted that it has been Superintendent Moran’s goal since arriving at Tipp to eventually eliminate all school fees, removing a barrier to student success.

Superintendent revised PK-8 building cost estimates

Superintendent Aaron Moran stated that due to his calculation error, the cost for the PK-8 building was understated at a prior board meeting. The correct total cost for the entire project, now partially funded under the State’s Classroom Facilities Assistance Program (CFAP), will be $113M instead of $98M, with taxpayers responsible for $78M and the State of Ohio for $35M. Since the $78M is below the Bond issue amount of $87M, Tipp taxpayers will still see some relief on their tax bills.

CIC launches Revolving Loan Program

Community Improvement Corporation (CIC) members approved the new Revolving Loan Program (RLP), designed to help small businesses in Tipp City. The RLP will provide loans to qualified small businesses for new capital equipment, building improvements, and other expenses associated with an expansion that creates new employment opportunities or enhances the businesses’ offerings. Interest rates will be 2/3 of the Wall Street Journal Prime Rate.

Zach Snyder Flooring and Design celebrated its one-year anniversary of delivering exceptional flooring experiences in Tipp City by opening its new Main Street location in May.

New Carlisle Council debates future of chickens in city

At the most recent New Carlisle City Council meeting, there was much controversy about an ordinance that has been put on the table regarding the allowance of chickens within city limits.

Tipp hosts first week of football camp

It’s hard to believe that fall sports season is only two months away. If you needed any more proof, you could have driven past the Tipp Park stadium last week and caught a glimpse of the Red Devils football team in action for the first week of their summer camp.

Red Devils boys basketball camp enjoyed success

With summer in full swing, the camp season is here. First up…the Tippecanoe boys basketball camp was held last week at the high school. Several youths from the Tipp City community attended this camp to develop skills and learn about the game in a variety of ways.

First camp a success for girls soccer program

It was a successful camp for the Tippecanoe girls soccer team last week as over 40 youngsters from the community attended the weeklong camp hosted by the coaching staff and players from the Red Devils.

Teen Leadership Academy presents grants to local non-profits

Eight Tipp City high school juniors (next year’s seniors) recently spent a week visiting local businesses and government offices, practicing leadership skills, and learning about non-profits in the Tipp City and Bethel Township area.

14th Annual Canal Music Fest held on June 8

The 14th annual Canal Music Fest, sponsored by the Tipp City Area Arts Council (TCAAC), enjoyed perfect weather on Saturday, June 8. Over 2,500 people were in attendance.

New playground equipment planned for Friendship Park

The Bethel Township Trustees have approved the purchase of new playground equipment for Friendship Park. A portion of the township’s American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding will be used to pay for the purchase.

Annual Dayton Air Show returns, 50 years in the making

The Miami Valley saw a flurry of activity this past weekend, with the 50th Day ton Air Show taking place on the grounds of the Dayton International Airport. The heat did not discourage tens of thousands of people who flocked to the airport on Saturday and Sunday, with visitors traveling from many states and Ontario to witness the displays.

A Hometown Tradition: Downtown Tipp City Community Night returns for 32nd season

In its 32nd season, the Tipp Community Night summer music series continues the hometown tradition of bringing the community together through music. On Friday, July 5, the free concert will be downtown at its original Second and Main location. Starting at 6 p.m. will be The Unity Sax Quartet, followed by the Kim Kelly Orchestra and vocalist Felita LaRock.

Galaxies headed to Nationals

It looks like some talented soccer players from Tipp City are not yet quite done with their success. Seven members of the Tippecanoe soccer program are part of the Ohio Galaxies FC 05/06 North team, which has qualified for the upcoming Presidents Cup Nationals later this summer.

Tipp City Seniors visited Grotto Gardens

Members of the Tipp City Senior Citizens took a road trip to see the beautiful Grotto Gardens at Dayton VA. They all had a wonderful time and stopped to eat at the Red Robin on their way back.

Deployed troops care package project sponsored by American Legion Auxiliary Unit 586

On Friday, June 14, Tipp City American Legion Auxiliary Unit 586 members, along with members of American Legion Post 586, sorted and packed Care Packages for Deployed Troops. The ten boxes were mailed to deployed service members for distribution in various units on Saturday, June 15, for delivery before the 4th of July.
