DTCP celebrates 20 years at Annual Downtown Awards Ceremony

The Downtown Tipp City Partnership (DTCP) marked the beginning of its 20th anniversary celebration on January 27th at the 2024 Downtown Awards Ceremony. While the official 20-year milestone will be reached in 2025, the evening was a kickoff to recognizing two decades of dedication, appreciation, and the future of downtown Tipp City.

The event, held at the Tipp Center, began with a warm welcome from DTCP Executive Director Tasha Weaver, who highlighted the evening’s purpose: celebrating the 2024 Downtown Awards, welcoming the 2025 DTCP Board Members, and honoring the founding members of the DTCP. Mayor Logan Rogers then led the attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance and an opening invocation. As the evening continued, founding board member Reed Spencer shared heartfelt words about the origins of DTCP, recognizing the founding members whose dedication laid the foundation for the organization.

Each founding member was invited to the stage and presented with a gift that was a true reflection of the support DTCP receives from its current downtown and a testament to the talent located here. The glasses and coasters were custom-personalized by Fox and Feather Trading Co., while Living Simply Soap created a custom soap for DTCP’s 20-year anniversary, personalizing it for the founding members. Their talented staff assembled everything into the cutest package to present as a token of appreciation.

DTCP 2024 Board President Chris Snider provided a review of 2024’s successes, thanking city officials, elected representatives, and city employees for their support. We extend our sincere gratitude to the Tippecanoe Gazette for being our media sponsor in 2024 and helping us share our stories and successes with the community. Among the key accomplishments:

●     DTCP achieved its 2023 accreditation.

●     Hosted "Talk of Tipp," a collaboration with the Tipp City Chamber of Commerce.

●     Raised $7,000 for local nonprofit organizations.

●     Organized community-favorite events such as Tippecanoe and Christmas Too Historic Home Tour, Vintage in the Village, and the Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting.

●     Launched new programs like the Event Supplies Borrowing Program and expanded the Facade Improvement Grant to support local businesses.

●     Continued strengthening Tipp City’s reputation by bringing state attention through hosting a Heritage Ohio Quarterly Revitalization Series Training.

●     The Economic Development Committee, led by Christy Jacobs and Ryan Liddy, completed a downtown wayfinding project and the Design Committee, led by Mark Davison and Kayla Buehrer, launched the Adopt-a-Pot program, successfully adding five new planters to downtown.

Following the review, the newly elected 2025 DTCP Board Members were introduced, along with their roles and responsibilities. Attendees were also given a preview of major initiatives for 2025, including:

●     Friends of Downtown Tote Bag initiative, made possible by a generous grant from the Tipp City Foundation.

●     Continued efforts to support downtown businesses through grant programs and promotional initiatives.

The 2024 Downtown Awards recognized outstanding businesses, volunteers, and organizations for their contributions to the community. Bodega Market was named Restaurant of the Year (announced by Meredith McKee), while Living Simply Soap took home both Shopping Spot of the Year (announced by Liz Robbins) and Business of the Year (announced by Amy Breinich). DTCP expressed deep gratitude to the sponsors who made the event possible, including Premium Sponsors Abbey Credit Union, Mauk Cabinets by Design, and Mark E. Davison - Sibcy Cline Realtors, along with Supporting Sponsors Monroe Federal Savings and Loan, Always Blooming Flowers of Tipp, and Main Street Financial Group - Thrivent.

Special appreciation was given to Story Point Troy for catering, the Tippecanoe Masonic Lodge #174 for bartending services, and volunteers from Luke Zerkle and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Studio Fifty provided an incredible photo backdrop setup, adding a stylish and memorable touch to the event. A raffle fundraiser, organized by the DTCP Tipp City Operations Committee and contributions from friends and family, raised nearly $1,000 to support future initiatives.

In closing, Mark Davison thanked all attendees for their continued support of DTCP, encouraging everyone to become a “Friend of Downtown” and contribute to the community’s ongoing vibrancy. The evening ended with an invitation to network, celebrate, and continue fostering the growth of Tipp City’s historic downtown.
