Lunch Break: Out With The Old, In With the Troni Bros
Sampling dishes and diners in and around Miami County
Sometimes, finding a new food group to eat instead of the same old sandwich or burrito bowl can be difficult. And other times, it doesn't take much looking at all. When one door closes, another opens, or in this case, when one pizza chain closes, and family one takes its place.
The new and adorable Troni Bros. Bella Bistro has made its way into the loving community of our sister town, Troy. This is just the third and northernmost location in the Dayton area. The cute little Italian parlor serves a variety of Items, from authentic New York-style pizza to tiramisu. After having just spent the weekend in the famously pizza-smothered New York, I decided to stop into the exciting new spot just fifteen minutes away, hoping they’d offer more items. Luckily, there were plenty of pasta dishes to pick from. Since it was my first time, like many times, at this restaurant and a new spot, I decided to go all out. I won't lie. I was a little surprised by the prices at first; however, when I flipped to the back of the menu the lunch specials were in decent contrast and large in portion size. With the cheaper lunch prices in mind, I settled on the huge cheese-stuffed ravioli and, while I waited, the bruschetta.
The bruschetta arrived fresh and incredible. The bread was warm and crisp, with olive oil and balsamic drizzled over every piece, topped with chewy, perfectly melted mozzarella and fresh zings of tomato and basil. I ate around three pieces while absorbing the atmosphere. This is when I noticed how adorably Italian the restaurant really was. Troni Bros had a diner-like vibe while incorporating colors like splashes of red and green and tons of pizza and Italian memorabilia. The Italian picnic tablecloths and old-timey photos, paired with a deli case refrigerator full of deserts with diner booths, created a unique aura that brought new life to the usual pizza place scene.
After devouring my bruschetta, I received my side salad and some rolls. The side salad was mostly lettuce, but still good for some greens. However, the rolls were something to write home about. They were almost pastry-like, with spicy garlic and slaty parmesan coating their exterior. After eating everything in sight, I hardly had room for my Ravioli. However, I managed to save some room and was pleasantly surprised by the pasta dish. The ravioli was huge in size, stuffed with creamy ricotta and dripping with a tomato sauce that edged on the sweet side in a uniquely flavorful way.
Troni Bros. Bella Bistro is a new and hopping spot to experience Italian favorites in a cutesy way. I can’t wait to return with friends for afternoon girl chats and, of course, lunch breaks. Troni Bros Bella Bistro is located at 2311 W Main St. in Troy, Ohio.
